JAMES ROSE believes the attraction of gaining a Padel MBA CPC (Certified Padel Coach) qualification has been emphatically emphasised by the fact that our first course of the year in March is already fully subscribed.
Indeed, such has been the clamour for places on the prized coaching education programme that our June intake is already half full while the March intake has seen students sign up from all around the UK.
Game4Padel’s exclusive agreement with Spain’s Padel MBA – one of the leading coaching providers in world padel which delivers world-class padel education for both players and coaches – will see three CPC courses held at our state-of-the-art Edinburgh Park facility in 2023.
Reflecting on the popularity of the CPC coaching model James, our National Development Manager, believes that a crucial point of difference is that candidates are made to feel part of our padel family.
He said: “We received extremely positive feedback from our first CPC courses held last May at Thistle in Edinburgh and last October in Huddersfield, and are absolutely delighted to be in a position where our next course in March is already oversubscribed. Really it just shows the appetite is out there now with more and more venues opening.
“But it’s not just about getting a padel qualification – it’s about learning, being inspired and being part of our family. And, of course, the attraction of Padel MBA – they have such a great network and reputation and they are rolling out quality courses that really catch people’s imagination.
“For Game4Padel to have this partnership in the UK with PadelMBA is fantastic and at Edinburgh in March we will have Nino Sanchez-Alcaraz Martinez, who has tutored our last two courses plus myself and Vincent (Hivert) from Game4Padel who will be overseeing the course and assisting Nino.
“At Edinburgh Park we have two courts and we are keeping numbers to a max of 10. Obviously as more of our multi-court venues open across the year we can increase these numbers, but the Edinburgh courses will be for 10.”
James continued: “We will be running the CPC course at different venues across the country eventually, but as the March bookings have proven, Edinburgh is just so accessible from England and further afield.
“Also, with Edinburgh Park’s location on the tramline – just five stops from the airport – where we have two covered courts and Game4Padel’s head office there with a teaching room, break-out rooms and we also have hotels nearby and the centre of Edinburgh just 20 minutes by tram.
“So, we have people travelling up Friday morning and leaving Sunday evening and it is not eating too much into their time. We have condensed the programme into three days and having our new head office there makes life so much easier.”
James has no doubt that the success of our pre-Christmas pop-up padel showcase at Westfield Shopping Centre, has provided a hugely positive stimulus for demand of the CPC courses.
He said: “With all the media attention from Westfield, interest has just been tremendous and the need for coaches has grown with that. Coaches now want the credibility of having done an official course backed up by experience and knowledge so they can introduce sessions in their clubs and venues.
“With Manu Martin coming to Westfield and Paco Gijon, Oscar Marhuenda, and these sort of guys working in partnership with us, the relationship is great and they are delivering very dynamic courses.
“Coaches finish the CPC feeling energised and are just so motivated to go away and coach and have the confidence that the support off court is there in terms of advice with drills or session planning or whatever it may be and it’s great to see all of that coming together.
“I am delighted to see March full and I think we have already got five people lined up for the June course so if you are interested in securing a place then the sooner the better in terms of applying and that is also the case for our final course of the year on October 13, 14 and 15.”
Reflecting on his personal hopes for 2023 James said: “The pipeline in terms of what we have to deliver this year is very exciting and for me personally seeing the coaching pathway coming to fruition is tremendous.
“I have been working on that over the last couple of years – training up coaches and developing the team to go into our venues and now we have an environment that is just really positive for padel players to come into.
“We have brought the best of what works in Spain and are integrating that into the UK. It has been a lot of work but we have a great team and we are very motivated.
“A lot of work goes on behind the scenes and I think what you will see this year is a lot of venues opening that have been years in the planning and it is just continuing to build on the momentum from last year and building this padel community.
“So, I would just like to finish by saying if you want to be part of an exciting journey with us then get on these courses and become part of our padel family.”
